| Welcome to StoryPit! Welcome to the beta release of StoryPit.com. We are delighted that you have found us, and we hope this service will prove to be a useful addition to your blogging and online reading experience. |
So....What Is This? Think of StoryPit as a tool for longer-form writing. Blogs are perfect for short form writing...posts that are a few paragraphs long...maybe a video clip or an eye-catching image... But when you have more to say than a few paragraphs, blog posts really aren't designed to handle longer writing very well. StoryPit seeks to create a platform that is better suited to posts lasting several pages (or even several chapters). Why Is this Good for My Readers? Unlike most blog platforms, StoryPit puts the reader in the driver's seat to make longer passages easier to read. The reader, not the author, determines the font size, font face, and column width of the material they are reading. To make longer materials easier to navigate, StoryPit allows authors to break up their work into shorter pages and multiple chapters. It also provides intuitive navigation tools for find one's place in a story through its readily accessible Table of Contents, Page Search, and Excerpt Search features. And since a reader may wish to read what you've written on more than one sitting, StoryPit remembers the last page visited so that your reader can return to your work later without searching. Sometimes you may wish to communicate with your readers with more than just text. Using StoryPit's "generated tags," you can embed video clips and hotlinked images into your post with minimum effort. Why Is this Good for Authors and Bloggers? If you go to the trouble of writing longer posts, you want to make sure your readers stay with you until you've said everything you need to say. By simplifying the navigation and making the reading experience as comfortable as possible for your readers, StoryPit helps to ensure that you get all your points across, not just the points you make in the first few paragraphs. And because your audience deserves easy access to your primary blog or Web site, StoryPit allows you to place a link to your site at the top of every page in your story. |
